Named in Honor of Allentown, Allen Issa Enters Race for Congress in CD 7

October 20, 2023

Allen Issa announced today he is running for Congress in the 2024 Republican Primary for Pennsylvania’s 7th District which covers all of Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties, and parts of Monroe. He is running to face current Democrat Congresswoman Susan Wild in the General Election.

“I was named in honor of Allentown, Pennsylvania – the city to which my parents immigrated from Syria,” said Issa. “Allentown is where the American Dream began for my family – where we learned the core Lehigh Valley values of hard work and service to community. Values which were instilled in me, which I still live by every day.”

As a former Congressional aide and Legal Fellow Issa focused his work on the crisis in Ukraine and Afghanistan. He worked closely with the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Internet, and Courts. Issa played a significant role in congressional hearings, including IP and Strategic Competition with China: Part II – Prioritizing U.S. Innovation Over Assisting Foreign Adversaries.

“I’ve worked hard to gain the experience needed to do this important job. Now I’m ready to use my experience to give back to the people who gave so much to my family. I am dedicated to upholding the values of integrity, public service, and common-sense bipartisan cooperation to
solve the pressing issues facing our neighborhoods and families today,” Issa said.

“Congress is broken. Progress is stagnated. It’s time for a new vison and energy. We need public servants who are laser-focused on improving and protecting the quality of life of those they serve – making life more affordable, creating good local jobs and career opportunities, and protecting the freedoms that are critical to every American.”

Issa is an alumnus of the University of California, Riverside, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with a concentration in Biophysics. While there, Issa held the position of Scholarship Chairman in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, spearheading philanthropic initiatives that raised funds for the Children’s Miracle Network. Issa was a violinist in the UC Riverside Orchestra and was an active member of several student and academic organizations. Upon graduation, he took on the responsibility of managing his family’s retail businesses navigating the challenges posed by the global pandemic.

Issa is continuing his education at Penn State Law.
